THE ROOTED ROADROOTED IN THE WORD

A PLACE TO BEGIN

LET'S TALK TO GOD.

Prayer is speaking honestly with God and making room to listen through His Word. You can come with gratitude, questions, fear, confession, or no polished words at all.

THE PURPOSE

WHAT DOES PRAYER DO?

01

It draws us near to God.

God invites us to bring our needs to Him. Prayer grows a relationship of trust, even when we cannot see an immediate answer.

Philippians 4:6–7 · Hebrews 4:16
02

It changes how we walk.

As we ask for wisdom and surrender our will, God helps us face choices with faith and obedience.

James 1:5 · Luke 22:42
03

It makes room for others.

We can thank God, confess sin, ask for help, and bring other people's needs before Him.

1 Timothy 2:1 · 1 John 1:9

Prayer is no formula for getting every outcome we want. Jesus teaches us to ask and to trust the Father's will (Matthew 6:10).

NO SPECIAL WORDS REQUIRED

HOW DO I PRAY?

Jesus warned against praying to impress people or piling up words to be heard (Matthew 6:5–8). Start simply:

  1. Pause and come honestly.Tell God what is on your heart. You do not have to pretend.
  2. Thank and praise Him.Name something true about God or something you are grateful for.
  3. Confess and ask.Ask forgiveness, help, wisdom, and care for others.
  4. Listen and respond.Read a passage of Scripture. Consider a faithful step you can take today.
“Father, thank You for hearing me. I need Your wisdom today. Forgive me where I have gone my own way. Help me follow Jesus and love the people around me. Your will be done. Amen.”

A simple example you can use in your own words.
